The reasons people quit meditation and secrets to overcome them

So many people have tried meditation, but most often people give up, saying, “I tried it, but it doesn’t work for me.” Perhaps some of these sound familiar:

  • I can’t relax.
  • I can’t quiet my thoughts.
  • I’m too busy to find time to meditate.
  • I can’t feel anything significant – nothing like what I hear about.
  • It’s too much work for too little payoff.
  • It’s too difficult to practice alone.
  • I don’t feel comfortable joining a group.
  • I’m not meant for meditation.


This is all understandable, since in today’s busy world we all want quick results or some instant feedback to know whether we are investing our time wisely. After all, there are many options out there and one day we’ll get around to finding that one that works for us. One day…

But our mistake is that we have a very limited understanding of the context of meditation as well as a limited understanding of ourselves – particularly our hidden potential.

Inside us we all have a radiant soul. We feel this intuitively, and we feel it at times shine through and give us respite from our difficult modern lives. But have we ever thought of consciously accessing our soul – bringing it forward at will to feel its light and warmth?

And does anyone honestly believe this would be an easy process? After all, if it were that simple, wouldn’t everyone be doing it?

As our grandparents always said to us, “nothing worthwhile is ever easy.” And what could be more fulfilling than living in the luminosity of our soul?

So once we have a better understanding of the journey, we can more comfortably take that first of a thousand steps, remembering that each and every step brings us closer to our goal, and with the right awareness, each step also brings us fulfillment.
